Press Release – Schenectady School District Selects LINEV Systems Weapons Detection Baggage Scanners to Enhance School Safety
After much careful consideration, community discussion, and extensive product research, Schenectady School District made the decision to purchase LINEV Systems baggage scanners to meet its current security needs.
Conroe, TX – January 3, 2025 – In a proactive effort to enhance security and safety for students, staff, and visitors, Schenectady School District will be implementing state-of-the-art weapons detection baggage scanners from LINEV Systems US, Inc. at Schenectady High School. The installation of this cutting-edge technology aims to prevent weapon-related threats and ensure a safer learning environment while maintaining a smooth and efficient entry process.
When asked about the decision behind adopting weapons detection technology, Jefferey Russo responded, “We have 18 buildings, 11 elementary schools, a couple different alternative high schools, and three middle schools. We have several programs across the city, and what really became apparent was that there was an increase in violence and weapons in the city. Having that hit home in our buildings a year ago started the conversation at our district safety committee level about whether or not [weapons detection equipment] was something we should start to look at.”
After much careful consideration, community discussion, and extensive product research, LINEV Systems baggage scanners were purchased to meet the district’s needs.
“I felt that LINEV brought me the scanner that I was looking for because it had the speed [and] it had the AI technology,” said Russo. “It’s a learning curve for sure, but I think that it is going to meet our needs and…I feel like I’m comfortable I made a good choice.”
The school district sent out a letter regarding the new technology to prepare families for the full implementation of the new screening equipment on Wednesday January 8th as students return from winter break.
Looking ahead, SSD plans to expand the use of LINEV weapons detection technology to other schools in the district, further bolstering its safety measures across all campuses.
